I Heart This Dramatic Face

When I heard that the theme this week at iheartfaces was Dramatic Black & White, I had just the sweet little dramatic boy to show off. Turner is shy, but dramatic none-the-less. If he were a teenager right now, he'd definitely be an emo kid. (Don't know what "emo" means? Here is the Urban Dictionary definition.) This past weekend we went to a gigantic Easter Egg Hunt (I'm talking hundreds of kids) but Turner was a bit...grumpy. Here he is, not wanting to stand with the rest of us, clinging to his balloon and wallowing in his sour mood. Drama.

23 weeks!

So we are 17 weeks from due date and counting!! The baby is starting to really move a lot now. Our entertainment last night was sitting on the couch and watching my belly move and squirm--this is definitely an active kid, to say the least! I really wish all my friends and family could be here to feel and see the kicking and moving! But we'll be back home in Atlanta soon--I'm flying back March 1 or 2, and Ryan should be coming shortly thereafter. Here's a picture we took the other night of my huge belly! (And I have to add that my face really isn't that fat--Ryan was sitting down, taking the picture up, so it's a bad angle.)

New Art

So recently I've become interested in getting in to graphic art. So I spent hours on the computer, got a lot of help from Ryan, and started my first real attempt. Yeah, yeah, I know it looks like an Andy Warhol rip-off, but isn't all art imitation of some sort?

It's a boy!!!

So we found out just before we left for Hawaii that we're having a boy.

"So, I got that going for me."

BTW...

We went to Hawaii... I don't know if you read that up there...

Here are some pics...

We stayed in O'ahu on Waikiki Beach.
This is a pic of Diamondhead.

So here we are taking a break to enjoy some Hawiian shave ice. That's right "shave" not "shaved." You hauli.... "He's so hauli he don't even know he's hauli."

This one speaks for itself.

Since Court is preggers, really preggers, we couldn't do all the crazy things, so instead we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is basically like Epcot in Orlando. There are 7 "islands" you can visit: Hawai'i, Tonga, Samoa, Aetearoa (New Zealand), Fiji, Tahiti, and Marquesas. You can take a canoe to each one, and while there you can learn about the people and history. This is a view from the canoe.

Click Here to visit their website.

About half way through the day they had a parade of canoes on this river, each one had it's own island dancers. I have that on video, it was cool. As soon as I get my new dvd burner I can burn all of this on a disc you can watch at home. Feel free to paypal me the money now....

Our favorite "islands" were Samoa and Aetearoa. In Samoa, they taught us how to light a fire with sticks and coconut husks, milk a coconut, and climb a coconut tree. In Aetearoa they had a demonstration of the dances and war chants of the Maori people.

This is us outside of Tahiti.

After learning all that we could about the indigenous peoples of Polynesia... We had a wicked awesome luau, complete with pig the in ground and poi. Again, BTW... Thcenter is run by the students of BYU. It is some mormon sister college, and most of the students at this college work at the center. They are all pacific islanders, but because they are mormon, the luau only had decaf coke, coffee, and tea. I know they didn't have that at real luaus, but still... crazy mormons...

Then we watched a dinner show...

The third day we spent on the beach. I even got a couple of shots of some surfers. Too bad I don't have a waterproof case...
